Hard disk repartitioning is preferred by people recently when a second operating system is to be installed on the computer. Each of the operating systems makes use of file system that is compatible to it. It is said that defragmenting the hard disk should be done compulsorily before proceeding for repartition hard disk. Usually NTFS and FAT32 are compatible file systems for windows XP.

             Hard disk is the device in which the data can be stored safely. When the hard disk does not have any partitions and the data is existing along with the files of the operating system then it might be problematic or risky when the operating system gets corrupted. All the data will be lost due to the OS corrupted files. So it is always better to place the data in one partition and store the OS files in one partition. It is important that repartition hard disk is an event inevitable for data to be stored safely.

            There are several softwares that are available in the market for performing this repartition of hard disk. Among them EASEUS partition manager Home edition is one. This is hard disk management software which can help us in resizing, moving, creating, deleting and formatting partitions. This is also used to hide and show the partitions. This software carries out all these functions by saving the data and is also free software. The software Partition Magic is not free software but costs around $60. But these programs can be used to repartition hard disk without reformatting the disk.

            Windows Vista operating system has the option of disk management console tool using which repartitioning of hard disk can be performed. By just right clicking on the available single disk space an option called ‘shrink volume' is shown. It is selected to mention the desired volume of the disk to be partitioned and repartitioning can be done by successfully closing the window.
